BANGKOK (The Nation / Asia News Network): âLocanation,â the first online travel agency that does not collect commissions from hotels, was launched to provide more choice for Thai travelers.
This platform, which looks like other online travel agencies like Agoda or Traveloka, was launched on October 1 as part of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) âTAT Travel Tech Startup Season 2â campaign.
The platform is accessible at www.locanation.com.
Locanation founder Pepe Arunanondchai said this website is better than the booking platforms he has developed before.
He said Locanation is the first online travel agency that does not collect commissions from hotels and helps them communicate directly with potential customers.
Pepe said hotels typically pay a 30% commission to travel platforms and most hotels are unable to communicate directly with potential customers.
This platform is available in three languages ââ- Thai, English and Chinese.
Pepe said that initially the focus will be on local travelers, but expects 20% to be foreigners. He added that by next year he expects 20,000 hotels to join the platform.
Locanation is also supporting government phase 3 of the âWe Travel Togetherâ or âRao Tiew Duay Kanâ travel stimulus program, he added.
