The Table Mountain Cable Car has launched a private car service for interested customers, with the ability to book tickets online. However, it is not cheap.
The company announced the new service on May 4.
The service gives customers an added level of social distancing for mountain travel. It aims to appeal to group visits or private event organizers.
“Our commitment has been and always will be to ensure memorable moments at the cable car, which is why we are proud to include it in our offer,” said Giselle Esau, Head of Brand and Marketing of the Cable Car, in a communicated.
The service costs R10,000 per booking. Customers must also purchase round-trip tickets for the number of people they wish to include.
How to Book a Private Cable Car to Table Mountain
Tickets for the Table Mountain Cable Car are available on Webtickets. You can also buy them at the cable car ticket office.
To book online, you must first create a Webtickets account.
After creating an account, select the date you want to visit and then click on the Private Car Ticket option.
In addition to the use of the private car, you must also purchase return tickets for each of the passengers. Round-trip tickets cost R300 each and you can book up to 25 people for private car travel.
When you arrive at the cable car base station, the staff will escort you to your private car up the mountain.
Passenger cars are only available Monday to Friday and not on weekends.
Cable car tickets are valid for seven days after the booked date. This is due to the closure of the cable car in the event of a strong wind.
