According to MakeMyTrip, there is a 30% growth in travelers for the inaugural match between India and South Africa on June 5 in Southampton.
Travel agencies have created specially curated packages for Indian travelers to London during and around the 2019 ICC World Cup, which coincides with the peak period for Indian tourists during the summer vacation period.
Fans will spend between â¹ 1.5 lakh to â¹ 10 lakh for their trip to watch the World Cup in the United States. Bookings are expected to increase 50% year-over-year and hotels will be 100% occupied. The majority of travelers will be men between the ages of 20 and 30.
Meanwhile, online travel brands also saw a 20% growth in sales and an around 15% increase in hotel bookings on Indian Premier League match days in various cities. Heritage tourism in and around cities hosting IPL has also registered a strong increase. Mumbai, Delhi, Chandigarh, Jaipur, Jodhpur, Aurangabad, Alibaug, Agra, Mysore and Puducherry would have been the most visited destinations around IPL games.
