The Gujarat Cricket Association (GCA) is poised to launch its own T20 league in the 2025-26 season, joining a growing number of state associations embracing this format.
Anil Patel, Secretary of the GCA, confirmed the decision to Cricbuzz. Details such as the specific timing, the number of participating teams, and other logistical aspects are still under consideration. "We are yet to find a suitable window for the tournament," Patel stated.
These domestic T20 leagues have gained prominence as key scouting grounds for IPL franchises. Leagues in Delhi, Mumbai, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Andhra, and Saurashtra are already providing local players with opportunities to showcase their talent and potentially advance to higher levels of competition. Many of these leagues are scheduled in June and July, following the conclusion of the IPL season in May.
