Once celebrated as the future of Indian cricket, Prithvi Shaw is now striving to reclaim his former glory. The young prodigy, who once shattered records at 15 and captained India to an Under-19 World Cup victory at 18, earning a Test century on debut, faced a rapid descent due to distractions and loss of focus.

Shaw acknowledged that he was led astray by poor decisions and a lack of discipline, resulting in missed practice sessions and misplaced priorities. Consequently, he was dropped from the Mumbai Ranji team and went unsold in the IPL 2025 auction.
During this challenging period, Sachin Tendulkar, a mentor figure who witnessed Shaw's development alongside his son Arjun, provided unwavering support.
"Sachin Sir is aware of my journey. Arjun and I have been friends since the age of 8 or 9. We have played and grown up together. Sir was often present. I recently spoke with him about two months ago while he was practicing at the MIG. I was there as well, and we had a conversation," Shaw shared with News24.
Tendulkar's words served as a beacon of hope. "When things go wrong and you stray from the path, you need a mentor to reignite your spirit. He still believes in me. He said, 'Prithvi, I still believe in you, and I will continue to do so because I have seen you grow up.' Even now, he advises me to 'Get back on the right track, like you were before.' Everything is possible in the next 13-14 years. His belief in me means a lot."
At 25, Shaw is determined to revitalize his career. He has moved from Mumbai cricket to Maharashtra, seeking a fresh start. Open about his past errors, he is committed to hard work and aims to rebuild his reputation.
Whether this marks the start of a complete resurgence remains to be seen. However, Shaw is confronting his mistakes head-on. With the support of legends like Tendulkar, he has a genuine opportunity for redemption and to reclaim his place in the world of cricket.
